8:45 AM - 12:15 PM
Location: Webinar; Sponsored by Lacey Amos Counseling, Alabama; Cost: $75.00; $90.00 after 6/28/24; Approved for 3.0 CE clock hours in Diagnosis; Presenter: Dr. Gary Gintner, Live webinar

Inaccurate diagnosis has many faces: over diagnosing normal behavior, under diagnosing psychopathology, and misdiagnosing one disorder for another. As a result, many may receive the wrong treatment or unnecessary care. This program reviews evidence-based diagnostic skills that have been shown to improve diagnostic accuracy. These critical thinking skills help guide the clinician through the complex diagnostic process. Applications to DSM-5-TR diagnostic issues are discussed including differential diagnosis, ruling out medical and substance-related problems, complex comorbidity and use of DSM-5-TR assessment measures. Special attention is paid to diagnostic issues with ethnocracies and other marginalized groups. Throughout participants are provided with case studies to help them apply these critical thinking skills.
