Reunification therapy is a specialized form of family therapy that aims to repair and restore the relationship between a child and an alienated parent. It's typically used in cases where the child has been estranged from one parent due to parental alienation or high-conflict divorce situations. The primary goal of reunification therapy is to re-establish connection between parent and child and restore their roles within the family. When a parent and child are estranged due to contentious divorce, allegations of abuse, or other reasons, reunification therapy helps rebuild trust and connection between them. The process incorporates various empirically based methods to facilitate meaningful social, emotional, and interpersonal exchanges between parents and children.
