Vicki Guilbeau Bio

Vicki Guilbeau obtained a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans and a master’s degree in Psychology with a specialty in School Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor with Appraisal Privilege, a National Certified Counselor, a National Certified School Counselor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and a Certified School Psychologist.  Dr. Guilbeau is the recipient of the 2019, 2022, and 2023 Louisiana Counseling Association Presidential Recognition Award for exceptional service and dedication.  She is also the recipient of the 2018 Louisiana Association of Educators Ancillary Personnel Image Award. 

Dr. Guilbeau has 33 years experience working as teacher, counselor, and psychologist in the K-12 educational setting.  Mental health clinical work has involved clients of ages 11-55.  Dr. Guilbeau has filled leadership roles on local and state boards, including her current position as President on the Louisiana Counseling Association Executive Board.  She has presented at national and state levels, as well as locally, on topics including school crisis prevention and intervention, confidentiality and informed consent in schools, adverse childhood experiences, counselor leadership, supervision, and ethics. 

Dr. Guilbeau currently maintains a private practice, VG Counseling, where she offers services as counselor, counselor supervisor, and consultant.  She is passionate about professional self-growth, as well as encouraging professional growth in counselors and counseling students.  Dr. Guilbeau enjoys professional service work in counseling organizations and with the American Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces.  Areas of interest include trauma recovery, school crisis prevention, and ethics.
