Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
LCA Statement Proposal

Where we are as LCA

Currently LCA is in the process of moving from talking to more actionable steps related to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) by creating a working statement to put forth to members of LCA, determining our destination for the next three years, and outlining actions and commitments. LCA is asking members to continue their devotion to healing, service, stewardship, honoring, integrity, compassion, empathy, belonging, leaderships, wellness, justice, learning, collaboration, community, dignity, and other qualities as the organization implements more frequent, intense, and specific JEDI initiatives.

Where we are going together as LCA

LCA wants to continue to be a premier professional organization where JEDI work is a priority through traditional and non-traditional professionalism and advocacy. LCA wants to consist of members who are critically conscious, therefore calling themselves and colleagues into open, respectful, experiential, and responsible actions. We all have something to contribute.

What actions and commitments we will take as LCA

LCA will commit the following actions for the next 5 years to further promote counselors and the profession:

1) fund trainings that go beyond talking

2) openly assess, share, and address inequities within LCA and members using explicit language

3) embrace JEDI initiatives as a client welfare concern by providing robust certification for multiculturalism along with continued yearly sessions at conference

4) add/update a JEDI question to leadership nomination forms

5) fund technology to make JEDI efforts easily accessible to all stakeholders

6) create an award specifically for those who exemplify JEDI work

7) normalize and expect fallout by having an internal and external process for repairing JEDI issues
